Hello everyone!
Today is the 4th week and that means we have something to celebrate – this blog has been up and running for 1 month now and we have had over 200 people viewing this blog so far. It has been a lot of fun so far and everyone has been great - all we need now are more posts from you! Don’t be shy :)
Ok, this week’s question is not a question but an activity. Once a month there is a special post and this week I am giving away ONE Starbucks gift card of $10.00!!!
Are you interested? In case you dislike coffee, they have smoothies and hot chocolate. Regardless, it makes a good gift for those who like Starbucks.
So, here’s the deal:
In order to win this Starbucks card you have to accomplish five things – and it is a first come first serve process.
Whoever posts first and fulfills the requirements (signing up for Teen Summer Reading), and answers all questions correctly will win the Starbucks gift card. In addition to that you need to provide your first name, age and school in the post – so I can check if you are registered in our Teen Summer Reading registration folder by 6/15. If you fail to provide this information – you will be disqualified and the next person’s correct post will win! If you followed the blog for the past 3 weeks it should be easier for you figure out the right answers. Good luck!
1. Sign up for teen summer reading at the library by the end of this week. (No later than 6/15)
2. Name two Wonder Woman superpowers.
3. Name 5 languages in Europe.
4. What is the capital of Denmark?
* Copenhagen * Oslo * Stockholm * Amsterdam * Kiev
5. All are future gadgets except one. Which one is not a future gadget?
* Scarpar * Kinetic Lighting Shoes * Kindle * Future Soldier 2030*
Have a great week! I hope to see you at our first Teen program on the 11th (Teen Chat –n- Chew) Questions? Check the calendar!

uuuuuuu I don't know I have been lounging all day and can't think strait and I don't know when we are going to sign up. We might move to eastern ID. If we move I am going to miss the weather here. Buurr. It makes me cold just thinking of all that snow. That and I really HATE the smell of coffee so to actually go into a shop were the main product is coffee would make me feel sick. Oh Riley I also went to IDVA this year and LHMS. I was one of the dual enrolled students. I took band at the public school. How did this year at IDVA go for you? For me it was kida weird and different because I went to public schools my whole school carrier until this year. It was still fun though being at home all of the time with my family.
ReplyDeleteLydia Age:13
Hello! This is me! I am super tired and I just got up. Trust me Lydia I hate coffee. Plus I'm not able to drink it! I'm going to North Star Charter next year which is kind of sucky! I will have to leave all of my friends! So, I'm going to go, because I have some things to do!
ReplyDeleteDominique, I have a question for Teen Chat club. Do we have to bring a lunch on the 11th?
ReplyDeleteKarolyne Age: 13 in 10 days!!!!!!!!!!
Becca,
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing this to my attention. Yes, it is free. Just FYI for the future - all programs are free at the library. Isn't that cool? :)
So, teen summer reading is for ages 12 and up (or grade 6th finished and up) - you read 30 min. a day for 10 days and you are done with level 1. After you are done with level 1 continue with level 2 and 3. You can read any book or listen to any book on CD - doesn't have to be a library book. After you are done with level 1 you can come to the library and claim your prize plus two tickets for the drawing. These tickets you can put into the teen drawing box to win more prizes.
Drawings:
Fridays, June 12, June 26, July 10 and July 24
Drawing Prizes Include: YMCA passes, Wahooz passes, Western Fair Admissions, Roaring Springs passes, Cracker Barrel meal, Shankz Glow Mini-Golf passes, Thunder Mountain Train Ride, and Souper!Salad! Meal.
Sooo....the more you read the better the chances for the drawing. If you are a "marathon reader" = you read definitely more than 30 min. a day, write your your extra time down in the boxes on the right. For every 5 hours you will get two extra tickets to put in the drawing box. If you still have questions, please call the library or ask specifically for me and I'd be more than happy to go over it with you. Or just stop by!
You can download your reading log (to keep track of your reading time) from the website under "teen" or you can pick it up at the library. You need to come down to the library to claim your prizes and to register. With registration you will get a coupon from SportsClips for a free haircut.
I hope it makes sense. Hope to see you at the library! Dominique
Jordan,
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating, but unfortunately I can not accept your language answer. Kashubian classified as a language is very controversial. It is considered a regional language and since polish is the officially accepted language in Poland - Kashubian does not really apply as an official language - more a dialect of the Polish language.
Interesting choices...looks like you prefer the unconventional ideas, huh?
Jordan, I also checked in the Teen Summer Reading Registration folder/file but wasn't able to find you in there.
So...WE DON'T HAVE AN OFFICIAL WINNER YET! I want to encourage everyone (including you Jordan) to still participate. Hurry!!! And don't forget you have to be signed up for the summer reading - because the official rule is you have to have ALL requirements and all questions answered right and in addition - be the FIRST one to post it on here. I will announce the winner on here.
Good luck!
Dominique :)
Karolyne,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog.
Initially we thought that teens should bring their own lunches and you still can, if you'd like. But we are going to make snacks before we start discussing books. The library will provide everything for the snacks...so don't worry if you are not going to bring a lunch - there will be something to snack on.
This time we are going to make "painted sandwiches" - intriguing huh?
Dominique :)
Dominique,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Now I'm not confused, because last time I went to the Teen Club they said to bring our lunches! Painted sandwiches...sound like the best sandwich in the world. Lolz.
Karolyne :D
2.) flying and strong
ReplyDelete3.)Albanian, Armenian, Azeri,Icelandic, and Danish.
4.)Copenhagen.
5.)Kinetic Lightning Shoes.
Karolyne. Age: 12 almost 13 School: North Star.
On that last one in the book it says I'm 13 since I'm almost 13.
ReplyDeleteKarolyne,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you asked the snack question - I changed the idea of bringing your own lunch because I like to do silly things and think making your own snack with others instead of bringing it - is more fun, right?
Karolyne...nice choices of languages BUT Azeri is not an European language. Azari is the language of Azerbaijan and Iran and both countries are not in Europe nor are they in the European Union. Soooorry! Try again...think easier...everyone think about food ;)
The next thing - future gadgets....hmmm...it's the wrong answer! Hint: I have mentioned the right answer - in our "future" post.
Come on!!! It's getting close...we need a winner...
Dominique

Hi Dominique,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering , if teens can participate in the reading program to....can we? I used to do the summer reading program until i turned 12 then i didn't know if there was a reading program for and age group higher than that. So is there a summer reading program for teens?
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! WINNER!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Karolyne - oh you guys were sooo close!
Especially Jordan! I am soo sorry Jordan you were so close. It was very exciting to watch. I am stoked that everyone tried so hard. You all did great. I wish I could give everyone a prize who participated but we have only one.
But guess what? That's not the last time we are going to give away prizes on here.
Next month there will be a new activity. Make sure you log on every week, blog daily and keep up the good work...
Have a nice evening :)
Dominique
Taylor,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog.
Yes, there is a teen summer reading program. You can download the reading log on our website under "teens" - reading log, or pick it up at the library. You have to come to the library to register - takes few seconds. Check the post on "Summer Reading" if you have more questions.
Hope to see you at the library!
Have fun with Teen Summer Reading.
Dominique
Oh, thanks. :D!!! So, Dominique, I was wondering if I got my reading summer thing on June fifth and I had read June first, second, third, and fourth could I add that onto my reading log?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Karolyne!!!
SO, nobody answered my joke.
ReplyDeleteWhy did the skeleton cross the road?
Nice Joke!
ReplyDeleteHere is my answer:
...to find a friend...he had nobody.
hahahahaaaaa...:D
Ok, friends - I'm out for tonight.
Dominique
Dear Karolyne,
ReplyDeleteto answer your question about the summer reading. Yes, you may put down the time you read from June 1st - because it was the official starting date. Karolyne, please come and see me at the library to pick up your gift certificate - whenever you can make it down here.
Ok, now I am really out for tonight! :D Bye
Thanks. I'll see you on Thursday. I'm part of the book club! :D The answer to my joke is:
ReplyDeleteHE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HE WAS GOING! HE DOESN'T HAVE EYES FOR HEAVEN SAKES!!!!!!!!!
Lolz. Well, I'll be back on tomorrow blogging, but I'll have to sign out early! I have somethings to do tomorrow!
I'll tell y'all a tall tale tommorrow!
PEACE! Karolyne!
Dominique,
ReplyDeleteSo I looked on the website, and clicked on teens, and the calendar showed up, what do I do with it? I'm really confused :-)
Thanks!

Yeah Riley I am planning on going back to Lake Hazel next year, but I don't know because I might move to a small town near Moscow in Washington, Idaho Falls, or with my grandparents friends that bought a good portion of land. So I don't know where I am going to be next year.
ReplyDeleteLydia
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get to sleep last night until like three in the morning! My tooth hurt so much! I need to get into the dentist soon! If I don't then I won't be getting much sleep all of summer! I'm dead tired at the moment actually. I just got up. I wish my tooth would have stoped hurting. I could be full of energy right now. Just give me some time. I will be all energetic in a little while.
Karolyne!
Hey Lydia,
ReplyDeleteSO, you like to read and you like country music? I like both to! Isn't that pretty awesome?
Karolyne!
I have a question. SO, let's say one of my friends want to come to the teen chat and chew tomorrow, can she come without having to sign up on something? Or does she have to sign up to come?
ReplyDeleteEveryone is welcome to the chat-n-chew! There is no sign up and I have enough bread for "painted sandwiches". The only requirement is that you like talking - particularly about books. We want to know what you are reading, what book you like, and what book you are going to read next...
ReplyDeleteOkay, thank you, I understand!
